From [livejournal.com profile] kugelfischli:

The first suggestion would be: you post the numbers of all/some graph/kageki issues you own, somebody replies with one number like kageki 10/2013, you take that magazine from you shelf, look though it and either post a description of your favorite picture, scan it and explain why you love it so much, maybe you feel inspired to translate something, maybe you want to post a sketch or a short story... whatever.

Let's see... I don't have as many issues as I used to, since I sold so many before my last move.

GRAPH: 09/'57, 05/'59, 03/'63, 10/'75, 09/'76, 11/'77, 03-09/'78, 07/'80, 02/'83, 11/'83, 05/'86, 04/'89, 04/'92, 08/94, 02/'96, 11/'96, 01/'97, 04/'97, 11/'98, 07/'00, 09/'01, 12/'01, 08/'02, 03/'04, 09/'05, 01/'06, 08/'07, 05/'09, 12/'09, 05/'10, 07/'10, 10/'10, 11/'10, 01/'11, 05/'11, 06'/11, 09/'12, 11/'13

A little back-story on this one. [livejournal.com profile] shirabyoshi scanned it for me, er, four years ago and it kind of sat on my desktop for a long time. XD

This is an article from the December 1966 issue of GRAPH, featuring an interview with six of the remaining eight members of the 44th class (1957). One of those members is Matsumoto Yuri, who is still a member of Senka today. At the time, she was a member of Snow Troupe, as was Hayama Michiko, who also went on to join Senka, and remained a member until 1996 when she retired and became vice-principal of TMS. There were also three members of Star Troupe: Kamiji Chizuru (retired in '74), Nazuki Hitomi (retired in '76) and Kokonoe Sakiko (retired in '69), as well as one member of Flower Troupe: Miwa Hisayuri† (retired in '67). Miwa Hisayuri had several lead roles at the time, in Star Troupe and Flower Troupe. Because the two members of Moon Troupe were absent, and considering the author's introduction, the interview itself probably took place on or around October 27th.

(†) Most Japanese online sources list her name as splitting "Miwahisa" and "Yuri," but throughout the article her name is written as "Miwa," and I can't imagine they would drop half her name like that. So I'm going to break with tradition and write it Miwa Hisayuri.

Classmate Talk
Their Troupes May be Separate, But Their Hearts are One
Participants: Miwa Hisayuri (Flower), Hayama Michiko (Snow), Matsumoto Yuri (Snow), Kamiji Chizuru (Star), Kokonoe Sakiko (Star), Nazuki Hitomi (Star)

● From their hatsubutai, the members of this class were said to be both lovely and--more importantly--studious and serious. Their steady footprints remain in various places as they work hard on the stage. Flower Troupe is on the verge of their Tokyo Theater performance, the opening night for Star Troupe's November performance is close, and Snow Troupe had a flawless closing night for their month-long performance today. Members of these three troupes found time in their hectic schedule to come have a talk with us. We'll call them the "Best Six."

If I'm going to castigate people for not translating GRAPH articles, I guess I should do my part. ;) I cut this out of GRAPH back in '11 and brought it back with me with the intention of translating it, but somehow never got around to it. An all-musumeyaku talk.

With MANY apologies for how far behind I managed to fall (an entire year!?), I've managed to catch up on my GRAPH Guide.

I have the usual request: If you know of any GRAPH translations which I do not have linked from my guide, please let me know so that I can contact the translators and hopefully get their permission to link them♥ (Is there really no one translating GRAPH articles these days?)

But I have another couple of requests as well:
1) If you have any GRAPH from 2012, could you let me know which 'sienne are featured in the GRAPHの宝箱 (the b/w comic) for that month? I only have September's issue.
2) Similarly, if you have any issues from 2011/2012. could you let me know who are on the collector's cards for that month? I only have Jan/May/June of 2011 and Sept. of 2012.

I figure those are two things that the craziest of collectors might like to know about, and they're not listed on the Hankyu Books site.

Thanks in advance!

Hey, did you guys see the cover of January GRAPH? Crazy Objects in the Background, Batman! I don't think that's happened on a GRAPH cover in over 50 years! 0_o

-----

It's that time again! (Sorry it took me so long to get my charts caught up this winter.)

If you have a GRAPH translation that you wouldn't mind me linking to, please let me know. Or, if you know a translation which I do not have linked, please let me know so that I can contact the translator. Thanks so much!

*Laughs* I was going to annotate this translation with explanations of various things, as usual, then realized it was going to get out of control, so I just wrote out a large mass of comments at the end.

So, so, I was kind of holding off on announcing it until I got a good look at the back of Kageki to confirm myself, since there have been false alarms in the Masaki communities for a few months, but it's official -- she's getting her first Kageki cover in December!

And..... yesterday I went with friends to get the December GRAPH (for Masaki's pin-up, of course), and guess what? We were happily shocked to see that she's getting the January GRAPH cover, with Chigi!♥ I love all these douki covers she's been getting. First Tomomin last year, now this. So soon after October is a surprise, although of course it'll mean an even longer wait until the next cover in 2012....

But now it's 5:15 and I'm going to miss my train!

I was reminded that I had fallen behind on my Graph Guide, but it's up-to-date now.

As always, please let me know if you can help me fill in any of my incomplete years, or if you know of any Graph translations not linked to. :) Thanks!

And I'd like to make my predictions for December GRAPH:

Cover: Yuzuki Reon (only top star not to appear yet this year)
Stage Poster: Sou Kazuho or Ouki Kaname (all of the current top stars have appeared except Kimu, but she won't have had a recent Daigekijou show)
Pin-Up: Sagiri Seina or Ryuu Masaki (all of the other top stars and nibante have appeared, but I'm leaning toward Chigi because the last two months will have been Tsukigumi pin-ups)

You know, people always talk about how they like Graph better because it has more pictures. Considering the portraits and silly backstage photos in Kageki that aren't in Graph, I suspected things were more even than people believed, so I decided to do a count.

I'll lead in by a fun fact: Did you know that the off stage postcards are all from the portraits in Kageki magazines?

Here was my count using October 2009 Graph and Kageki (to be fair, since I don't have any of the 2010 Graphs to compare to my Kagekis from this year):

Graph (116 pg)

Pages with photos...
Off: 20
On: 30
Rehearsal/backstage: 10
News: 1

------

Kageki (176 pg)

Pages with photos...
Off: 40
On: 34
Rehearsal/backstage: 12
News: 3

.... Yeah. I know it's not a scientifically sound pool of data, but please trust me, it's proportionately the same every month. So I don't ever want to hear anyone saying anything about Graph having more pictures than Kageki again. *grin* (I'll give you the stickers, though.)

Oh! Also, because I fell behind on keeping up with my Graph charts, I think I missed a lot of translations. If you know any Graph translations that I don't have linked, please let me know? If they're yours, can I link to them? Otherwise, I'll contact the translators myself. Thanks!

... Reminds me that I need to finish those Mame articles...

Sorry for the huge delay (though I doubt anyone was waiting with baited breath), but I've just gone in and updated my '09 Graph guide.

I never talked about the May cover, did I?

I'm more than a little bit in love with Kishin-sensei. The entire photo shoot is lovely. The fact that it's Masaki AND Tomomin is simply icing on the cake. And, at long last, my three-year dream of Masaki stickers came true. .... I may have bought two copies just so that I'd have extra stickers. XD

And the talk between Kishin, Masaki, and Tomomin? Masaki, you dork. She goes on about having met Kishin before in a restaurant. Or, well, having seen Kishin in a restaurant, when they were sitting at adjacent tables. And going (to herself) "Oh! It's the photographer who does the GRAPH covers!" When she told this story, Kishin was all: ".... I do a few other things, you know." (He's a very famous photographer in Japan.) And then we learned that apparently people are always mistaking Tomomin for Chie. Um...?

What the HELL!? ASAKA MANATO is getting a cover? ... Okay, she's sharing it with Kaname, but STILL-! I protest! LOUDLY!!

I'll breathe deeply over in this dark corner. Don't mind me.

Ack, I can't believe I let this slide for months. T_T I've finally updated my Graph guide (Oct-Dec '08, Jan '09).

But of course I also haven't added links to translations in months! So if you wouldn't mind me linking to any Graph translations that you've done, would you drop me a note here to tell me what I'm missing of yours? Thanks!

And, of course, if you happen to have any info so that I can complete incomplete charts, I'd love you for help with that too!

Also... Uh... Wow. The '09 January Graph seems really heavy to me.
