Ah, an OSK show during the run of "Hamlet!!". I'll probably be in Kansai that weekend anyway. But... I wasn't planning on going until the 7th, unless Masaki's ochakai is on the 6th (highly probable).

And... This is awful, I've been so bad at keeping up with OSK news. T_T Takashiro Yuuki announced her retirement three weeks ago. She's retiring on November 8th. T_T

.... That's what I need to do this weekend -- update my OSK site.

And now I need to get to work! Eek, late for class. XD

It's already been posted in [livejournal.com profile] osk_skd, but OSK has a new web site. It's lovely AND everyone has a blog now! ♥ ♥ ♥

And there's footage up from this year's Haru no Odori. ♥

It feels like ages ago now, but it's time to talk about OSK's 2009 "Haru no Odori" ("Spring Dance").

I had only ever seen one other live show with OSK members -- In '07 I saw "The Unlimited World", which also had performers from other groups. And somehow out of the 8 or 9 shows I've seen on DVD, none of them were Haru no Odori. Whenever I think to buy one I've never had quite enough cash.

But now I have, and I'm so very, very glad I did.♥

The theater was the Shochiku, in Osaka, as I believe it has been nearly every spring since the 1930s? This was the 6th "Haru no Odori" since their revival.

Haru no Odori
March 21st, 12:00 performance

I left the theater just literally BUZZING with energy, and wishing I could see it again. I wonder if this one will make it to DVD?

After an embarrassingly long time (ie - over a YEAR XD), have updated the profiles on my English OSK site. Probably still a bunch of mistakes in there that I missed. The Haru no Odori '09 review is coming, promise! It's half done. <3

And now I'm going home. Hanging out in the office to catch up on emails on your day off when the weather is gorgeous is NOT cool. Off to hike some more.

I've kind of let this journal slide, but here's the OSK news round-up that I've been neglecting for the last couple of months (though if you're on [livejournal.com profile] osk_skd, you've gotten most of it):

Ouka Noboru (OSK Top Star) changed her kanji! From 桜花昇 to 桜花昇ぼる. I don't know why, but this makes me a little sad. XD

Minazuki Jun has announced that she'll be retiring after the show in Minamiza on July 21st.

Uehara Mari (former Takarazuka top musumeyaku) is making a special appearance in the Minamiza show.

60" promotional movie for the Minamiza show!

[livejournal.com profile] junklover is doing another care package for OSK, for the Minamiza show, so if you're interested in contributing, check out the [livejournal.com profile] osk_skd comm. :D

For those who might not have heard yet, although I think the news has spread pretty quickly, Aika Mire has been diagnosed with lymphoma. She's canceled her appearance in an upcoming April show. She's hoping to recover and get back to work as soon as she can.

I have to admit, I've never been a fan of Tamo the otokoyaku, but I am a fan of Tamo the person. Off stage she has always seemed very sweet and friendly and easy going. It's hard to think of anyone being struck with an illness like this, and so I wish her the best.

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] junklover has posted an idea to show support for OSK in [livejournal.com profile] osk_skd. I think it's a really good idea, and a great way to show that they have a lot of foreign fans who also care about them. Please, take a look!

The poster is out! Ouka Noboru's ohirome kouen as the top star. And, look, they have gone back to OSK now. I think someone told me they could, with the new management? I don't quite follow the logic, but... she's so lovely.

Kotono Mairi and Harune Maho are retiring along with her. That makes nine members retired in 2007 (assuming no one retires in December), and New OSK will have only 30 members left. T_T

With all of their financial difficulties, and the rehabilitation... What's going to happen? I wonder what's happening to the seven girls who should be making their debut next spring?

Wa ga Uta Boogie Woogie
2006 Performance

Starring: Makoto Tsubasa, Uesugi Shouzou, Ouka Noboru (New OSK), Sugiura Taiyou, Nakazawa Yuuko, Soganoya Bundou, Nakao Mie, Kusakari Masao

It was a fairly large cast, and I'm too lazy to type them all out, but there were also 12 New OSK ladies as backup dancers, including Asaka Sakurako, Morino Konoka, and Kiryuu Asaya.

[ Takarazuka-an ]

Summary: The life of Kasagi Shizuko (1914 - 1985), called "the Queen of Boogie". It followed her entrance into OSK, her leaving it to start a jazz singing career, her romance with and parting from Yoshimoto Eisuke, the birth of her daughter, and her decision to end her singing career and do only acting. It is interspersed with performances of the songs she made famous.

I'm not sure, because things get lost in translation, and I'm not familiar with lawyer-ese even in English, but it was pointed out in [livejournal.com profile] osk_skd that New OSK applied for corporate rehabilitation.

I did a search on the law, and this is what I found:

Corporate Rehabilitation Law

Only joint stock companies may apply for the Corporate Rehabilitation Law. In a majority of the cases, the Corporate Rehabilitation Law is applied to the bankruptcy of a listed company or a large company because the complete disappearance of that company would have a major social effect. The former management is not able to be involved in subsequent management. This may not apply, however, if the former management is not considered responsible for the management issues.

A court will appoint a rehabilitation administrator with the decision to commence a rehabilitation procedure. A rehabilitation plan will be prepared under the supervision of the rehabilitation administrator while business continues. The selection and appointment of a business administrator (sponsor in substance) is key to a successful rehabilitation procedure. It is a major point in the subsequent rehabilitation procedure. In the past, it took a long time to complete the procedure because it was carried out strictly. However, in April 2003, the amended Corporate Rehabilitation Law was enforced to speed up and rationalize the procedure in light of the Civil Rehabilitation Law.

So, does this mean they have applied for bankruptcy, basically? Oh, this makes me so sad, after they worked so hard to get OSK started again. What will happen now?
