Aaaaahhhhh, Rachel, Hayami-chan mentioned us in her blog! Kinda. She was really happy that we talked to her, and she mentioned the fans who did their best to talk to her in Japanese at demachi, such as saying they had "watched her since Scarlet Pimpernel." :D

Her selfies are the cutest! Looks like she was busy doing her own fangirling. :D

Short, high-quality, cut version of the May 11th press conference for Chicago:

Longer, poorer-quality, full version in three parts:
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3 <--- Hilarious. When asked what would be the most important thing to prepare for an overseas performance, Mine Saori is all: ".... English?" And then she begins demanding to know if the younger member speak English well. Put on the spot, Wataru is all: "Um, I can do Chicago maybe?" And Tani, who has been waxing lyrical about how much she loves and travels to NYC is all: "Well, I guess I can get by?" And Zunko cracks her first smile (I seriously think she was nauseous-ill. Either that, or had been replaced by a robot. ノレアクション).

And we have our ladies and gentlemen:

Ladies: Maishiro Nodoka, Otohana Yuri, Kayou Kirari, Hanazuki Yuma
Gentlemen: Suzu Haruki, Makise Kai, Manami Sora, Yuuzumi Shun, Tsukio Kazusa, Mishou Kazuki, Kaon Yuuki

Not gonna lie, I'm more than a bit disappointed Maki Izumi and Hayami Sei aren't coming to NY. :(

I don't see any mention of the "Top Ladies" in the cast schedules, so I'm going to assume Hoshina Yuri and Aono Yuki will be in all of the performances.... I really hope so. After Mariko, Marimo is the one I most want to see on stage again♥

You naughty ladies and gentlemen who have been too busy with things like, well, I have no idea, life or something along those lines.... Very disappointing. Please stop having a life and return to LJ to entertain me us.

This thing! This thing that Becca pointed out in her LJ is the funniest damn thing I have seen/heard in ages. I really want to see it!

CHICAGO homepage w/advance flier

But possibly even better are the looks on the faces of the Broadway cast, where apparently Zunko showed up in full otokoyaku war paint during their curtain calls on the final night of the run to announce the OG performance in Tokyo. Because I just bet the New York audience was expecting that. Right.

Guess what? Guess what? I finally opened up the plastic wrap on one of my Masaki DVDs. The time has come, dundundun.

PS: This! Koshino Ryuu has signed with a talent agency♥ (Her "special skill" is listed as "having a loud voice." Ahahah.)

Hilarious and fabulous! Matobu Sei is going to be a regular on Aibou, as the love interest of Sugishita's new partner.

Speaking of Tsukigumi top stars... A co-worker just dragged me to the computer to show me this clip Fuji TV put up of Amami Yuuki from her new musical drama The Frog Princess:

The Tale of Genji x Ōguro Maki Songs (This fabulous show) is getting restaged this spring. Oooh, SO much more tempting than the Dolly Parton musical. Jen is Happy! :D Rika is playing Genji again, but the rest of the cast hasn't been announced.

Shii-chan is the Chunichi Bldg poster girl this spring! She looks so lovely! (But too thin, methinks.)

So... I caught one of those "advance notice" fliers when I was in Tokyo yesterday and Rika is going to play Anna in "The King and I" this July! It's only going to be in Tokyo for a few days, but I'm definitely going to try to get tickets! ♥

..... Not so sure how I feel about MatsuKen as the King of Siam, though. XD

PS - Oh, and a little birdie told me that the new postcards are out on Saturday. ;)

I'm not here! Just posting to saaaaaaay:

MAME HAD HER BABY GIRL THIS MORNING!

On Halloween, two days after the predicted birthdate. She is very pleased about the Halloween birthday♥ And all I can think is.... Two years ago it was Halloween and I was at her last Tea Party.

Wow, time flies.

PS -- Right, right, I forgot to mention. She married Myuji, whom you might possibly remember blew me away when I saw him in Jubilee two summers ago. When she mentioned that in passing a few journal entries ago, I was kinda like: 0_o !!!! Yay!

Two hour mandatory driving safety lecture to renew my license again, and I am brain dead. Also, they made me cry.

Anyway: Things!

Pretty, happy Matobun! (How did it never occur to me before that she's hardly older than me? Urgh.)

I saw Rika's Genghis Khan! .... It was actually a musical, which surprised me. The dialogue was... very bad. The Mongolian traditional instrument thing was very good, and the music reminded me of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which was cool. Rika's costume in act I was Love. Rika all pimped out in a massive ton of "masculine" eyeliner also a plus. The two leading ladies' singing voices were amazing, particularly the younger girl. (Photos and interview)

They're doing an adaption of Pride and Prejudice! I wonder if it'll try to be faithful to the original, or if they'll go for something more unique? But... I'm sorry, but I really can't see Toyoko as Darcy. Hrm. Hoshi fans, any guesses as to Elizabeth and the rest of the Bennets?

Also, anyone see that they're doing another gala concert for Elisabeth, next November? I know some folks were hoping for another one.

I'm about three shows behind, but I'll do this one first because it's the quickest.

MYSELF
Shibuki Jun 25th Anniversary Concert
Le Theater Ginza, July 30th 1 p.m.

Pure fun. Luckily I had a bit of warning from reading a news article about the Friday performance, so the Lady Gaga didn't catch me entirely by surprise, otherwise I may have had a bit of a laugh attack.

Costumes were pure, un-adultered Rika. (A different costume for every.single.number!) The opening number was the Lady Gaga song, and Rika's costume was a mix of cream and see-through, with the see-through prevailing. Cue heart-attack. Ah, Rika....

It was dance, dance,) dance, very Rika. Her fillers were a pair of amazing ballroom dancers! (Plus one "special guest" male singer whose first song was good but second went on forever....)

The next number was so familiar I'm sure it's one of the J-pop songs I listened to when I was in high school, so it was probably by TM Revolution, or something like that. The medley had a couple songs from Takarazuka, then a bunch from her post-Takarazuka career. She sang my favorite number from Genji! (The "I.Lost.My.Mind!" one) *glee*

One number with an enormous, covers-the-stage dress almost seemed like "Don't Cry For Me Argentina", but was a bit different. Mmm....

And the last number was "Lica/Rika", from her concert of that name, which was totally fun to dance along to live!

There were two encores, one in a huge, over-the-top white costume that had bits hanging from the roof to one of her concert encores that I loved before and was also glad to hear live. But it was the second one that made the entire concert. If that had been the only song she sang, I would have been happy. It's a new song by the song-writer whom she colaborated with for Genji (blanking at the mo), and it was all about gratitude for her fans. She came out in jeans and a plain white blouse, in her own hair instead of an elaborate wig. And in that same, straightforward way, she sang to us. And the tears were pouring down her face, which set all of us off too.

Rika. Thank you for bringing me into Takarazuka, but thank you even more for being you, and for all of the amazing things you do every year as an actress. You are amazing and special, and we all love you♥

There were video cameras there. I have hopes. :)

SHIZUKU!!!

... Or, Arisa, now. It seems like she might be getting back into the limelight after all. According to the blog of a photo studio she went to, she came with two other members of Kusano Hitoshi's talent agency (although she's not listed as a talent of the company in their blog).

Possible huge yay? Um, really amused that one of the guys listed as a talent in this agency is this great hulk of a man who apparently is an athlete and a pianist. Also hugely amused that now that she's back to her real name (Nakajima Arisa), googling her pulls up the other famous Nakajima Arisa (different kanji), a pro-wrestler.

In NOT great news, Marimo apparently injured herself in the final rehearsals, and now she's replaced in two of the revue numbers. :(
But I hear there is dancing in the aisles, even up in the balcony!

Will be playing catch-up on a bunch of things on Sunday, cross my toes! Tomorrow is RIKA LOVE!♥

Rika, please never ever ever change♥

Our top musumeyaku continues to be awesome♥

And I keep forgetting to post this, but Touyan has moved her blog. Before she moved, however, she revealed that she's working in a dental office now (okay, guess I should have guessed from the uniform, but in my defense... after ten years I've STILL managed to avoid the Japanese dentist), and she went out for lunch with Himari

PS - Luna Rossa is AWESOME. My heart went 'splody from the Tomochin hotness.

PPS - Sorry, Mame still hasn't posted it publicly. It may be a month or two before she does, now that I think about it. I didn't mean to be a tease for that long. XD
