What I Thought:
I am probably the last person on the planet to see this show, but here you go anyway.... ;)
LOVE.
It peddled to all of my weaknesses: Osa in pinstripe suits, gangsters in pinstripe suits, Hatchi in pinstripe suits, Un-chan in pinstripe suits (are we sensing a theme here?)... No, but seriously, the otokoyaku wardrobes? Deadly. The musumeyaku outfits were probably very pretty, but I- Wait, wait, I remember Lucia's repeated mention of little red... hats? No, no, that was Tuxedo Jazz. I definitely remember Sakurano in a little red dress, so it was a little red something. The sets blended in and don't stick out in my memory, except for the station, of course, and the sewers. Slightly subdued for a Grand Theater show. Music and lyrics were done in a safe, lovely style that suited Osa's gorgeous voice to a T.
Haruno Sumire as Gerard... I've heard people mention that this wasn't a new kind of role for her in both a positive and a negative way. I'd have to say, personally, that for me it was a positive. I liked Gerard. I felt for him; I thought he was sweet and divided. Koike keeps mentioning writing Gerard to use Osa's miryoku, which is kind of hard to translate exactly (for me, at least) -- charm, fascination, glamour; that power that draws people to you. I think he succeeded. Maybe some people were disappointed that she left with such a "safe" show, but for me it embodied everything about Osa that I've come to love, and I think that made it a wonderful sayonara performance. She did seem very tired in some places, though. I think she retired at the right time; how heart-breaking it would have been to see her wear herself down to nothing.
I... I think I'm going to tempt the Wrath for a second time today, but I think I do have to admit *wince* that I agree slightly with the folks who didn't much care for Marianne. But I don't think that was any fault of Sakurano Ayane's -- I think it can all be laid at Koike-S's feet. I can't imagine what on earth possessed him to give her such a mousy role (dressed up as a suffraget, no less!!), unless it was to allow Osa to shine more on her own in her final performance? Sakurano is, I believe, a really talented actress, so this disappointed me.
Ritsu Tomomi.... seemed to be missing. She appeared in all of... two scenes? T_T Oh, shame, shame, shame.
Natsumi You ... ngh. I.... I appear to have fallen hard for her, and gangster Hatchi-san is deadly to my concentration. Ditto to adorable, adorable, adorable Matobu Sei. This woman is so sweet, and yet such a wonderful otokoyaku. <3 I hope my string of luck where she's concerned keeps going and I get to see her live as a top star someday. Her chemistry with Osa was wonderful, and I'm really sad they weren't a top-nibante combi for longer. Her "Jojo!" really melted my heart.
Soh! Sou Kazuho has been steadily growing on me. I was really looking forward to her combi with Un-chan, and I have to admit that that's what has me most bummed about Yuuhi's transfer. As Maurice, she was very attractive. Poor Maurice... trying so hard to be evil..... Which brings us to the Sleaze prize of the night! Misuzu Aki! Squee! Little 'stache of LOVE!! I just wanted to pet it and cuddle her little Sicilian self. And, of course, pairing her up with Suzukake Miyuki was pure brilliance. Someone deserves a raise.
Hm... Jeanne. Aine Harei made an interesting woman (okay, that just sounds wrong on some basic level). I liked that she kept her lower voice and how she played the starlet. Adelaide-esque, but unique as well. And her chemistry with Un-chan's Simon was just... well, adorable. (Note to self, need new adjective for Un-chan.)
There were other people on stage, and things happened, I think. But I kept getting distracted by the suits. Oh! Despite not having a named role *tears*, Hinata San made two appearances. And she won the dance competition (of course). <3 And Luna-chan (Saezuki Runa) made a very cute boy!Simon.
Overall, this show is now my second-favorite Osa show (after Kurotokage). The plot might not be Tony-award wining material, and I felt the musumeyaku were in many ways after-thoughts, but the suits, and the otokoyaku, and the shoulder holsters, and Mattsu's mustache, and Hatchi's tattoo (yes, I have weird kinks, leave me alone)... Ngh. And Osa was as powerful as ever, making a grand ... adieu.

No no no, add me to the list as well, ;)!
I got the Le Cinq to it(and I saw pictures from Osa's Sayonara Graph that I cherish the most along with the Shinjin and I must say its beautiful).
I want to see it because Osa is a charmer as usual and I don't let mixed reviews stop me until I took a little tiny peek at yours and yours was positive,:D!
I NEED TO GET THIS PRONTO! I have to go on a white horse and pursue a hunt for Osa!

Date: 2008-03-24 04:37 am (UTC)For Adieu Marseilles, I kind of feel like the whole thing was written so that Osa could stand on the ginkou and say "Adieu..." at the end. Now, she does that very well, but there have been better Osa shows IMO. That being said, it's still a nice send-off for her.
P.S. Guns shouldn't be nearly as sexy as they were in that show.
