I need some help from anyone with Otome between 1983 and 1987.

Saiki Takumi was listed as an otokoyaku in the 1982 Otome, but a musumeyaku in the 1984 Otome. Could anyone with a 1983 Otome confirm if she was otokoyaku or musumeyaku that year?

She was also listed as a member of Snow troupe in 1984 Otome, and the 80th anniversary book does not list her as one of the troupe transfers in ‘84, ‘85, ‘86, or ‘87. Yet it also lists her as retiring from Star troupe in 1987. Could anyone confirm or deny that she remained in Snow Troupe or transferred in those years?

Thanks!

Okay, calling all resources in!

Someone has sent me an old vintage photo to try and identify the subject. The signature looks like 汐風 みちみ to me, which was an earlier stage name for Shiokaze Kyouko. She also does resemble the photo in the TakaWiki, although I can't be certain. I would like to narrow things down, and have a few questions for you ladies with extensive vintage collections of pre- and immediately post-war Takarazuka.

Questions:
1) Any idea of the years they used the lyre stamp on photos? The one with right-to-left "Takarazuka" in kyuujitai in the center, and "Shoujo Kageki" around the bottom, also left-to-right. I know they took the "Shoujo" out in October of 1940, but did the stamp change then as well?
2) Does anyone have any stage photos of Ryouko in makeup?

Thanks!!

When I moved the TakaWiki over to my private server, it was meant to be a stop-gap measure while we figured out what was wrong with the original server. Going back to the original server is no longer an option, but I think it would be nice to have the TakaWiki back on a dedicated server again (with its own DNS). Among other things, it means it can be handed on to another web mistress with minimal fuss when the time comes that I can no longer look after it.

I really love the shared hosting service that I use (Surpass Hosting), who have amazing customer service and have always treated me like a queen (I never would have gotten the tikiwiki installed and running without their help and advice), but they don't offer PHP 5.5 (which we need to upgrade to tikiwiki 13.1). Does anyone have a suggestion of a reliable shared hosting service which does offer 5.5? Particularly one that you've used and have good evidence that the customer service reps are reliable and knowledgeable.

My service right now is a legacy from the former iteration of Surpass, so it's fairly cheap. Still, even if we were to purchase their current unlimited disk space/unlimited bandwidth hosting package, it would only be $17/mo if we paid for 3 years up-front ($612). I'd like to do it as a fixed fundraiser (think Kickstarter), so if we don't meet our goal, everyone gets their contributions back and we scrap the idea, so I was thinking of using Indiegogo. Add in a year's domain name registration, and we're probably looking at another $13 ($625 total). Calculate in their 4% fee for a successful campaign, and we'd need to raise $650.

Very doable, I think, considering our large and generous fandom. What do you all think?

Last one for at least 24 hours, I promise!

From Bernard's speech before the assault on the Bastille. I can see two ways to translate it, but I'm not fully satisfied with either, so I'd like your opinions.

Bernard: History is not made by one hero or one general! 君たちも祖国の名も無き英雄になろうとは思わないか!

I won't tell you how I translated it, so I can get your unadulterated opinion.

Okay, I'm stumped.

Continuing our roll of random languages stumping me, I need possible readings for the name 好麗峰. Not sure if it's Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese.....

Help! This song is, I think, some European language or another. Any idea what it says?

Could someone with a recent Otome check the birthday of Irodori Michiru? Debuted in 2013, assigned to Snow Troupe last year. The TakaWiki says Dec. 19th, but someone heard in an interview that it was Oct. 19th and Japanese online sources seem to confirm this.

Thanks!

So, I think for the next TakaWiki poll I'm going to ask what social media people use most for their Takarazuka fangirl(boy)ing. But, I am old and out of touch [see: currently posting in Livejournal]. So! I need to know what social media I can use as choices.

I'm currently thinking:

*LJ / Dreamwidth
*Message Boards / Forums
*Texting
*Tumblr
*Twitter

What else?

French speakers, or those familiar with French surnames...

Who would like to take a guess at シッシーナ? (shi-shii-na)

Or perhaps it's some other European surname?

She's one of the ladies in Marie-Antoinette's court, along with the Duchess Monzette, Marchioness Lambesc, and Duchess Calonne.

Hey! [livejournal.com profile] sumire_no_hana found a puzzle, and I'm not certain if it's been solved or not, but I thought I would throw it out there.

Uchide Motoko -- She was listed in the 70th anniversary book as part of the 14th class of 1924 (with an unknown retirement date), but then absent from the 80th and 90th anniversary books.

She has been found listed in a Flower program from 1925 as 打出もと子, and again in a Flower program from 1926 listed as 打出基子.

If you have any programs or Otome from around that time and want to hunt for her, it would be great to try and find out more about her.

Hmmm?

Oh! I'm so awful, I never remember to answer messages on Facebook. XD

A Japanese friend saw a foreigner in Tomomin's fan club a couple of weeks ago and asked me if I knew them. Now I'm super curious if it's the same person I knew who was in the club five or six years ago, or someone else....

Otome help!

Does anyone have an Otome between 1988 - 1991? I need to confirm the pronunciation of the name of Snow Troupe Member 水城 なつみ. Some online sources say "Mizushiro," some say "Mizuki."

Thanks!

I'm having a brain freeze and trying to remember details on the Ema Agency. Does anyone remember how many members they have at one time? I remember it being a fairly small number....

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] ruderal_species reminded me that you can find an article on the Ema Agency in the Star Troupe IV Kumibon.

Hi all!

A bit of a treasure hunt for you: Benizono Yurika.

http://www.takarazuka-revue.info/tiki-index.php?page=Benizono+Yurika

I was recently contacted by someone who wanted help finding pictures of their mother (Benizono).

She debuted in Tsukigumi's 1961 "Haru no Odori", and retired in 1967. I believe she was in Hoshigumi, and even a prominent younger star in '64-'65. Maybe a musumeyaku? She also had a small part in a Toho film in '62.

If you have any Otome or programs between 1961-67, could you take a look and let me know?

Thanks so much!

Thanks to everyone who replied to my question entry. I have to admit I'm a bit surprised by how many people want Yukariko as first pick. I suppose I shouldn't be, with all the interest in genderbending of foreign Zuka fans! I read through the version of the script that I have from the published collected works of Shibata-sensei and it seems pretty close to how I remember the restaging they did in '10. So that solves the one worry that I had.

One more, follow-up, question: Back a year or two ago I was working on Gypsy and BaraKuni at the same time, posting bit by bit. Did you like that, or would you prefer that I wait until a script is completely done before I post? I have to admit that getting feedback helps motivate me, but I can always do without. ;)

Out of curiosity, which of the following would you most like to see get translated? Feel free to number 1 to 4 if you're feeling ambitious!

Yukariko (Everyone dies.)
The Man From Algiers (Everyone dies.)
My Love Lies Over the Mountain (Everyone dies.)
Edward VIII (And they all lived happily ever after. ... j/k. Everyone dies.)

<--- Everyone doesn't really die. Mostly.

I am especially looking at all of you lurkers who assure me you're still reading this journal. *grin*

Next up are some much delayed article translations of our not-so-very new Tsukigumi Top Star♥

And, slipping in a bit of a sales pitch: I'm selling the complete set of the Sword of Paros manga, a 1986 yuri manga with a protagonist princess raised as a prince (similar to Oscar). $5 for the set of three volumes, plus shipping. Check out the plot on Wikipedia and let me know if you're interested.

Hey all!

So, I'm now looking for someone with a DVD-RAM player who has the capability to make a DVD-R (vob) copy from it, either directly, or using some kind of analog recording. I'm not certain if the data on the discs is encoded, or if it just needs the proper kind of player, but I'm having no luck with a couple of disks that I desperately need.

I'd prefer someone in the US, just to keep things simple, but since DVD-RAM doesn't seem as common here, I'll take what I can get. Anyone who's willing to help me out with this, name your price. T_T

Thanks!

Does anyone remember who posted about not being able to find the book of Ayaki Nao's Digi + Kishin?
