ALL ABOUT RIKA
Shibuki Jun Concert, 2000

[ TakaWiki Page ]

Cast: Shibuki Jun, Miho Keiko, Amaki Kaori, Yuu Naoki, Mirai Yuuki, Ai Youko, Sugata Kou, Tachibana Riya

Summary: See the TakaWiki page

What I Thought:

Oh, I love this concert. It has all the sides of Rika I love. Pop Rika, dangerous lady Rika in a slinky red dress, Rika dancing the part of the swan prince, Rika singing "Stay", bad-boy Rika in leather, Rika giving us a slide show of her life for over half an hour....

Trust me, if you're even a smidgon of a Shibuki Jun fan, you need this show. It was a continual heart-attack the entire way through. :D

Just when I might possibly have forgotten how absolutely, completely awesome Tom is, something like this comes along to remind me.

Intro: Goddess, Act 1: Takarazuka Memorial (medley), Act 2: Chanson, Act 3: Latin, Act 4: Aqua, Act 5: Jazz, Act 6: Pops, Act 7: Screen Music, Encore. There's a song list on the TCA shop page.

Seven songs were cut from the DVD, most likely for copyright reasons. The videography is really nicely done, which makes sense, because I believe this was filmed as an anniversary concert for Sky Stage, and was especially intended for airing on there.

Hm, thoughts... I've noticed that I'm not as into concerts and dinner shows and things. I like plot and dialogue, and I like dancing. I mean, Tom crooning on stage is never a bad thing, but when she does it for several minutes in a row... my mind starts to wander a bit. Until I remember that it's Tom, and then I'm back. ;) And my attention didn't waiver once during the 20 minutes of rehearsal footage at the beginning of the DVD. She's so pretty. I was a bit freaked out when I recognized one of her outfits as something I saw her wearing in a Graph article once, though. What, now I'm subconsiously memorizing their wardrobes!?

"Night and Day" was a disappointment. She sang it all in English, and her pronounciation was a little off. I can't blame her entirely for that, though, because whoever was coaching her was using katakana! I saw it written on the whiteboard during the practices. Excuse me while I tear out my hair because katakana is not English! God, it was one of my hugest pet peeves when I ran into a JTE who used katakana with the first years. Grr! Arr!

"Ame no Gaisenmon" again! Poor Tom; she must get so sick of having to perform that song every time she steps onto a stage. Still, I love it, and I can imagine how much everyone wants to see her perform it live. It's like that famous song that every rock band had and now they have to play it at every performance or the crowd riots.

The Jazz section had me in a puddle on the floor, of course. *whimper* Ishi-chan... in a suit... being all mobster-ish.

The Cosmos ladies were all very good too, and there were very few baby-'siennes. How nice to be Tom the Senka God so that you can steal top musumeyaku, bump down top otokoyaku, and command legions of experienced takarasiennes *grin*. I never realized that Fuu-chan was in Sora before she became top of Hana with Osa... Oh, and that one otokoyaku really, really looked like a guy during the rehearsal footage. Talk about freaky. XD
