Apparently Cate is out of internet range, so I'm safe to post things El Halcon related again. *grin*

The TP photos are up! El Halcon and Revue Orchids. I remain amused that they still haven't updated the English Grand Theater page on the main website... two weeks after Adieu Marseille ended.

There are a couple little clips up from opening night as well. One is the bottom right video on this page. The other I can't link a short cut to, but if you go to the main Takarazuka page and click on the black bar under the picture of Touko and Asuka (the one with the video camera and the red button with the white arrow on it), it'll pop up.

Aoike Yasuko wrote an entry in her journal about going to see the show and what she thought of it, and I've translated that here. I approve of her enthusiasm. ;)

And then I have a bunch of translations linked off of the wiki here... Seems like everyone, even the critical reviewers, like Touko's Tyrian and the female pirates. :D Other pluses seem to be the close following of the manga. On the negative side, the plot is apparently really quick and the transitions between scenes hard to follow if you don't already know the story.

Those look like being pretty much the best costumes EVER EVER.

I'm just taking several hours to admire them. Pretty.... velvets.... No one will use the words "costume troupe" derisively who's seen those.....

Oh, whatever. I would never use the derisively anyway, personally. Takarazuka without costume-derived eyecandy is like...like... I dunno, like toast with nothing on it. Tasty, nutritious, and certainly enjoyable, but it can be so much MORE, you know?

*chokes on coffee* Oh, Anna, where would I be without you in the morning to cheer me up? I think I may demand a comment like this every night to wake up to. ;p

I loves my costume troupe. <3<3

Haha, I approve of her enthusiasm as well. Especially with the "oops, I cried without meaning to! How embarrassing!" XD

*g* Totally! I was going to say something like: "Yay -- Maybe she'll become a fan!" .... But then I realized she must have seen Berubara back in the 70s at some point, since she's friends with Ikeda Ryouko.... So, not a fan. But an enthusiastic outsider is just as good. <3

It could just be that she needs a few shows to REALLY get into it. It took me a few viewings of different things before I was actually hooked.

*nods* Yup. But I think the chances of her going to see more shows are pretty slim if she hasn't in the past thirty years. *g*

Well... it could just be that ROV isn't her cup of tea... It's not for everyone. =P

(I'm sounding kind of desperate here, aren't I? I don't even know why... Maybe I think it would be a triumph for the fandom or something.)

I think I'm going to love the female pirates (and the rest of the show too.)
Plus Tatsuki You and Mari Yuzumi as lovers, that is my own very personal fan service :-) I don't care how little stage time they probably get together.

Yes! Musumeyaku as tough pirates is just.... well, there are no worsd to express the love. :D

I hope they have some good scenes. Shii-chan! Good scenes!

It is not amusing in the slightest; it is horrifying. I can't understand one thing in this play, and their little summary sheet HAS NO ENGLISH SIDE!!!!! I need the English page desperately so I can try to understand what's going on.

On the negative side, the plot is apparently really quick and the transitions between scenes hard to follow if you don't already know the story.

So nice to know it's not just me.

I've translated everything plot-related that I can get my hands on. :/ Unfortunately, the Japanese summaries never tell you much. Might I recommend the manga? I know they're selling it in QR, but you could probably find used copies at a Book-Off too.

It's a little disturbing that there's no English on the summary sheet. I wonder if they've lost their translator? .... Hm, maybe they're hiring. ;)

PS - OMG HOW WAS IT!?!?!? STEAL LUCIA'S INTERNET! I WANT A FULL REPORT!!!
