Oh my god, what a week. It's Saturday morning and I STILL feel like ripping someone's face off. >:(

So let's play catch-up with the shiny! Julie's already covered the Tsukigumi developments, so I'll summarize wander completely off topic:

Masaki is playing her own grandfather? (I'm not exactly sure how they mean for the connections to be between "the former king" and the two sisters/fairies, whether he marries them both or if they're both his daughters, but I'm guessing daughters.) This should be amusing. And this all reminds me so much of 87ths hatsubutai fairy-tale♥ I've been thinking how all of Kiriyan's shows as top star have been along a common theme of "adventure hero and fairytale", even Yukariko, if you look at it in a certain way. But: Pimpernel, Gypsy Baron, Studio 54 (My Little Lover!), Beauty and the Beast. And it suits her and Marimo so well, and I love it♥ Of course, Kiriyan would do justice to the other Revue tropes, like hardboiled or costume, but I think they've found a genre with a great deal of room for interpretation which fits her really, really well, so I hope they keep exploring it. ... Where was I? Oh, yes, so I was right about Shimon not getting the shinko lead, and it going to a more square-faced, bigger-framed type otokoyaku (no bean-pole Tamakichi either!*g*). I think it was a wise decision, because she'd look ridiculous in the Beast get-up. But I'm also very sure she'll get the next shinko lead, especially after seeing her in Studio 54. The company definitely wants to keep her in play, so they'll give her the token shinko lead.

OMG, SOSOSOSOSO want to see Tamakichi in the tiger costume♥♥ I will admit to a bit of sadness over Houzuki An getting what will probably be a slightly shrill evil-otokoyaku-in-a-skirt type of comedy role, but it'll be good experience for her. ^^; And I like the idea of her studying under Magee♥

I cannot believe how my friends called Aikaze Yume way back during Two Kinsmen. She was playing one of the handmaidens back then, for goodness sakes, and they said that they'd heard rumors that she was very reliable and that the company seemed to like her a lot. Since then she's been rising steadily through the shinko roles. I wish her well in her first musumeyaku lead!

And, back to Masaki... Not so keen on the fact that the role does seem to be a variation on Disney's Gaston after all, even if Kiriyan's grandfather/cousin. On the other hand, she does arrogant so well that I'm sure it'll be fun to watch *g*. If they make Morie the bumbling sidekick.... Well, if they do that it could mean a long and fruitful Senka career is opening before her, I suppose.

In other news, bought Masaki's personal book last week. Yes, another copy on top of the ones I've already ordered. I just can't wait however many months it takes for them to get sent off. ;) It's pretty amazing, and I think even if you're only marginally interested in Masaki you'll enjoy it! She requested Koike-sensei for her special talk, and it's actually a fairly interesting talk (at Long Fang restaurant). Her two dream-stage shots were Rachiman from Dal Lake no Koi (which I had never thought of for her before, but now that I've seen it I'm all !!!!! They brought in Tsuzuki Mia so that they could do the bed pose♥), and Rhett (the first show she ever saw was Amami Yuuki's Gone With the Wind).

The various studio shots... I'm in love with her brown eyes in a way I never was before♥ But it's her "photo album" section that is what makes this book worth it for me. So many douki shots! So much love. And... What might possibly be a shot from one of those cast performances they give for the staff? *laughs*

She's doing a star long interview on Sky Stage next month. One of those hour-long interviews. I'm so happy for her. :)

Remembered the other thing that I keep forgetting to post: Rika's blog♥

Going to stop here and get some FOOD. To be continued with actual Bell review. ;)

Stars: Ozora Yuuhi & Nono Sumika

Hmm. It lived up to all of my expectations, and yet.... Well, it's a bit complicated.

So far as the summary goes, well, actually, the one on the TakaWiki isn't 100% accurate to the 2010-11 performance. We should have updated it when the new English summary went up. Oops. I've never read the novel, so I can't say how much it differs. From my hazy memory....

What I Thought:

The bridge scene lived up to the stories! It was pretty amazing. And I liked how they staged the effects during the attack on El Soldo's camp, too. Overall, the rock sets were pretty cool.

Music was catchy. I kind of want the soundtrack when it comes out on iTunes. Kazari Jin's solo as El Soldo was really pretty and got huge applause both shows I saw.

Costumes were really fun for all of the guerrillas and gypsies. Kind of had to buy Tomochin's postcard so that I can look at that outfit whenever the mood strikes me. *laughs*

Overall, I'm glad that I saw it♥, and I liked it. The chemistry between Yuuhi & Sumika was as amazing as ever. But I guess I was hoping for a really visceral response to the drama that I never completely got, and so I ended up personally disappointed despite its being a very good show.
