Because we can. And because Kuze Seika, although scary, is also sexy and talented. And my third favorite Moon Troupe Top Star (behind Rika and Yuri).

[ TakaWiki Page ] [ Official Site & Blog ]

What can I tell you about her? Hm. Not much. She was born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, but moved to Tokyo when she was one. She joined Takarazuka in 1981, after graduating from middle school, and graduated from TMS in 1983. She was top star of Tsukigumi from 1995-97. Over the course of her Takarazuka career she played three "Me & My Girl" roles: Bill, Sir John, and Gerald (shinko). After retiring she joined SIS Company and became a stage actress. She just finished doing a run in Osaka of "Private Lives".

I was terribly saddened by the fact that only two or so people who filled out that 100 questions meme actually knew who Mirai Yuuki was. This needs to be corrected! :D

Like Yuuhi, Hamako has somehow managed to lose her way on the star track, but she still has a profile on the "star" page. (A profile with very unflattering photos *grumblegrumble*) Also, like Yuuhi, she will soon be the same year as the top star in her troupe (Mizu). And also like Yuuhi, she has spent her entire Takarazuka career in one troupe.

[ Takawiki Profile ]

Hamako is in Snow Troupe, class of 1993. I think her greatest asset is her powerful singing voice. I've been a fan since I watched her '99 shinjin koen lead in The Man Called Bacchus, where her portrayal of Julian, the self-appointed confidant and protector of Queen Anne, was absolute love. Especially the angsty love between himself and the queen, which of course could never be.

[ TakaWiki Profile ] [ Charlie's Home (Post-Zuka Fan Site) ] [ Recentish (2005) interview with photos! ]

I wasn't even a fan when she was top star and so I heard her sad story after the fact, but watching her shows still gets me all teary-eyed. Charlie was top star from Nov 2001 until June 2002. She announced her retirement before her first Grand Theater show as top star even began, due to illness. Worse still, she wasn't able to perform during the Tokyo run with the exception of an appearance during the revue on the last few days. For more on this, check out [livejournal.com profile] jenebi's reports from that time which she originally posted to the ML but also reposted in her journal.

Random fact: Charlie's nickname, as I understand it, is because while she was a TMS student she rode her bike in every day, and it was a "Charinko".

I first saw Charlie when I bought a second-hand copy of Michelangelo/Viva! This was only my fourth Takarazuka show. I didn't like Michelangelo, not at all. But I did like the character Charlie played. And then... the revue. Charlie's dancing is love.

Recently I found the time to sit down and watch Charlie's show as top star: In the Amber-Hued Rain. Oh, tangos, I love you so.

*yawns* I'm so tired this weekend...

Anyway, today we love Iori Naoka, one of the unfortunate "New Senka" ladies. After 11 years in Flower, she was moved to Senka in 2000 and lost her shot at a top spot. I haven't picked her out as much as some of the other NS ladies like Saeko, Wataru, and Naruse Kouki, but when I do see her in a show her animated smile and strong voice have always caught my attention. (Her hair looked adorable all crimped up in The Mercenary Pierre.) Unfortunately, she retired in 2003.

Apparently, she's now a certified yoga instructor. o.0

Today we love Asami Hikaru, because it's a shame she hasn't gotten any love from us yet. As top star of Snow Troupe, she has had a nice run for four years. She's the top star you see a picture of and go: "Huh? That's an otokoyaku?" And then she opens her mouth and sings.....

[ TakaWiki Data ]

I've added a new Variety Q&A translation for Komu. I wonder if she ever got that license? And now I crave tsukemono. *sigh*

*sighs*

This whole "being gone" and "starting classes" business has interrupted my schedule. Now I missed We Love Eri Day, which I was the one to ask for, and I haven't had a chance to properly get photos and such together either.

Sigh. Well, here we are. TakaWiki Profile. Yoshizuki Eri is currently the most senior member of Tsukigumi, but will return to being vice-kumichou when Izumo Aya is moved to Tsuki in October. She is a really marvelous character actress. I love her mad scientists in particular. XD

Today we love Sakurano Ayane, the uber-cute, very much still a baby, new Top Musumeyaku Star of Hanagumi. She debuted in 2002.

Well, [livejournal.com profile] princesslucia has the visuals and audios more than covered (汗), so I'll just give you a translation from a recent blurb about her and her feelings on the role of Christine, her first lead role in the Grand Theater:

I feel that Christine is a woman with a very honest and pure heart. )

I think [livejournal.com profile] princesslucia and I assumed for so long that we must have done Ishi-chan that neither of us actually checked to see if we had. And now I'm almost tempted to wait a couple more months and use her for the one year anniversary of We Love Day, but... now that I know I really can't just wait.

Todoroki Yuu. Tom. Ishi-chan. A current Takarazuka legend. She was Top Star of Snow Troupe from 1997 - 2002, but then instead of retiring like most do, she switched to Senka. Now she's the Top of the Tops, taking the top role in whichever troupe's show she joins. There are some grumbles about this among the fans, but... dang, why? [ TakaWiki Profile ]

Tom is... a 'sienne who grew on me slowly. I first saw her live in Nagasaki Shigurezaka / Soul of Shiva (Star, 2005) and thought she was good, but not marvelous. Then I saw her in Nova Bossa Nova (Snow, 1999). She can dance, she can sing with one of the strongest voices of the deeper-voiced 'siennes, and she has ankles. Okay, that last bit is a long-standing joke, but it's also true. Also, Tom has discovered the Elixar of Youth. Most 'siennes seem much younger than they truly are, but this woman gets younger every month, I swear.

Shirosaki Ai is one of the many reasons (along with Izumo Aya, Ayano Kanami, Shirahana Remi, and Yumesaki Nene) why I think Moon Troupe is going to be the best musumeyaku troupe for the foreseeable future.

The woman can sing! She can also act. But, most marvelous of all is her chemistry with Kiriyan. Well recognized chemistry, I might add, as they seem to have been paired together in everything since her debut. I first really took notice of her in Ernest (2005), where she played an adorable Cecily.

Recently, I watched her in the Seal of Roses (2003) shinjinkoen. There were noticeable differences, and her performance wasn't as strong as it is today, but she was still utterly adorable. She's now in her sixth year, which makes me very curious about her future. Will she stay in Moon? Will she get moved to a top spot soon?

Yay! I'm finally home again on a Sunday, so I'm re-joining Lucia (and whoever else wants to join us) for We Love Days! This Sunday is Matobu Sei, formerly of Star Troupe, now in Flower. *Points you towards some crunchy facts*

I find Un-chan really hard not to love. She's just so adorable, and also bears an eerie resemblance to Emao Yuu. (Okay, maybe that last one is all in my head.)
