Hm, they still haven't announced the May-June Star Troupe Tokyo Orb show. It's probably nothing more than sponsorship or honestly not having decided, but part of me also notes how close the end of that run is to the start of Flower Troupe's Chunichi show which will be the ohirome kouen of their next Top Star. Honestly, I'll be a bit surprised if it isn't Mirio, with her sponsors and popularity (as well as experience basically playing double-top with Masaki), but you can never be 100% certain. Which made me consider the other long-range candidates.

There's always Hokushou Kairi (very doubtful).
There's Sagiri Seina. Not one to write off.
There's Kurenai Yuzuru, who is technically sempai, even if her career hasn't been pushed as hard as Mirio's has.
There's Asaka Manato. Possible return transfer. Stranger things have happened.
There's Nagina Ruumi, classmate of Mirio, but very doubtful, IMHO. Her last BH lead was in 2010, and younger stars in Moon Troupe have been getting the current shows.

Hm, any likely candidates I'm overlooking?

Hmm, apparently there are rumors of a Taiwan Tour in August, which is in the discussion stage, not yet set.

Unless they change the current schedule as it stands, it seems like they'd have to take folks from all of the different troupes.

First OG Renka sighting! She had dinner with Yakumo Mika and Izumo Aya, who tells us that she's teaching dance now.

Meanwhile, Touyan had dinner with OG Seo Mitsuki and with Mirio on Sunday night. Touyan tells us she's impressed with how much Mirio has grown and how cute and cool she is, and that the middle-aged lady at the next table over had hearts in her eyes. ;)

Some people may have heard the latest round of top star retirement rumors already. But I think we're still at the "the calendars know all" stage. This happens every year when the calendars come out, because they try to plan them so that stars don't appear in months after they've retired. So, if, say, they don't appear after a scheduled Tokyo senshuuraku, top star rumors begin sprouting. Of course, there's also a law of averages in there, somewhere. I tend not to take them for anything until the official announcements pop up, but it's still fun to try to outguess the news.

I think in 2011 we have Yuuhi not appearing later than August, Yuu not appearing later then April, and Kiriyan not appearing later than October.

I think April is a much more traditional retirement month, and Yuu not appearing after April a lot more suspicious than the other two, but so far the rumors only seem to be about Yuuhi. And yet people have been predicting from the very beginning that both of them were going to be "placeholder" top stars who would only have one show, maybe two. So if those do by some coincidence happen to be their retirement dates, I'll be very happy with Yuu's nearly 3 1/2 years and Yuuhi's two.

We'll see. *shrug* If Yuu is retiring, we'll probably get an official announcement in a month or two.

But, playing the guessing game, I'd say they moved Mattsu for a reason. Sou could be top, with Asaka Manato as nibante, and they would only need to move three stars along the sideways track (Miwatchi, Mitsuru, Meo).

It's been a while since they've had a dance performance. Miki Akio! ♥ Love his dance reviews, and from Fancy Dance, we know he loves Sonoka. I would point out that the "stars" says "Kiryuu Sonoka and others". That, combined with the fact that she's ken-13 and it's only a Bow Hall performance, makes me pretty sure this is exactly what it looks like. This is a dance performance for the dancers in Moon Troupe, with the popular and amazing Sonoka foremost of the bunch. :)

And I feel a bit silly now for thinking that they would give the Bow to Mirio. She's basically Masaki's equal, which means they're going to give her a Bow/Nippon, I bet. Meaning the one we're slotted for in Nov/Dec, most likely?

Mm, anyway, I'm betting no Masaki or Mirio or Rizu or Ruutan in Dancing Heroes. Because, let's face it, none of them are very great dancers. XD

Aran Kei Ark 2010 DVD (Oct. 20)

Also, I think most people have heard this, but the rumors of the next series of personal books starting seem to have been confirmed by a biker shop dude, who posted a picture of Hokushou Kairi on one of his bikes, which she rented for the photo shoot. Oct 25th is the date people are naming. Nothing official from Hankyu yet, so despite all the rumors we don't know who else is getting one.

There is also a rumor of a "New Generation 2" coming out in September. The first "New Generation" was released at the very end of 2006.

Rika's Genji looks like it will be a modern-day musical comedy. XD Dude, in that case, hire a guy....

UZUKI HAYATE! Toldja Hankyu would give her the last possible shinko lead. It's been a consistent pattern the last few years: Tomomin, Seshiru, Yuzurun, Rurika. They want to keep these people in play. *grins*

Touyan, Ahi & Masao got together for dinner *AGAIN* this week♥ Isshiki Ruka was with them this time, and they celebrated her birthday a few days early♥

... Now I see why Masaki was in such a good mood that morning -- she had a party to look forward to. ;)

Romeo & Juliette cast is out, and the first thing I feel is immense relief to see Remi-chan's name on it. I had been having a niggling worry that she might pull a surprise retirement with Lilac, which I can't afford to go see, but I doubt very much she'd do that with a show she won't star in, so I'll hope to have another chance to see her in Tokyo Theater in the winter♥

Second interesting thing is the lack of Tomomin and Miya Rurika.... and enough solid upper- and underclassmen to make me wonder if they're really going to get a break, or if there is something yet on the burners that Hankyu hasn't announced. The fact that Tomomin's the most senior star-tracked name missing makes me a bit hopeful. Ken-10 is about the time for 87ths to begin to get dinner shows, if nothing else♥

PS - Just because I'm curious to see if I can call it, I'm going to guess that the 96ths get assigned to their troupes on the 19th. ;) The last two years since the schedule changes have had them assigned on the Wednesday after Daigekijou raku.

UGH. I hate Thursdays SO MUCH. (← *sorry, had to vent*)

Anyway, Tom dinner show announced for May. Title not decided yet, and I suspect there may be at least a few underclassmen who also haven't been announced? Because a completely solo dinner show would be logistically difficult in Takarazuka Land (no one to cover for you while you change costumes, and what 21st century Takarazuka show worth its salt would only have one set costume?).

I have no idea why this announcement has suddenly set my spider senses tingling, since Tom has practically had a dinner show every year for nearly a decade; I suspect my antenna is broken. ;)

And I've also heard through the rumor vine that Tom is going to be in Hoshigumi's next Grand Theater show in Oct./Nov., while I'm here rattling my antenna. *grin*

I wondered if they might announce the next Hanagumi top musumeyaku on shuugobi, but then I thought: No, no, they'll draw it out, surely. Hahah, wrong!

*Snoopy Transfer Dance!* <-- It's been a long time since I did the Transfer Dance properly. :D

I love when things get all stired up♥

So, with Remi transfering to Hoshi, perhaps she'll be nibante musumeyaku, and get the lead along with Kaname in Lila. But I wouldn't bet on it entirely, as people have been transfered into anonymity before. That would make me a sad puppy.

I'll admit I'm not horribly disappointed that she won't be next top musumeyaku of Hanagumi, because I still hold on to my impossible dream of Masaki and Remi being reunited again. ♥ Hey, if Tartan and Akiko could do it.... ;)

I'll admit I'm not thrilled with Ranno Hana being Un-chan's new partner, because I think her singing still needs a lot of work, but we'll see. Maybe they pushed her up there because she's planning on retiring soon anyway, and this way she can go with Yuu. Or maybe she'll be with us yet for a long time. Who knows. Heh.

So I guess it'll be:
Ranno - Amasaki
Aono - ???
?? Maihane? - ?? Manaka?
Yumesaki - Shirahana
Nono - Hanakage

... Unless Alice is moved to Snow? Maybe with Tomu? I guess we'll just have to wait a few more months for that announcement, though. And it's just as likely to be Otozuki and Maihane.

And I admit to being completely stumped by Tsukigumi. It's impossible to tell right now. None of the remaining musumeyaku (who haven't obviously fallen off the star-track) have been in specials, or had shinko leads, or even nibante roles in any smaller shows. Kotone Kazuha? Saki Akane? Remi Kurea? Someone younger? I'll be curious who gets the nibante musumeyaku role in Yukariko, and who gets the shinko lead in The Pimp.

Thus endeth the speculation for the moment. ;)
